Union Station Hotel Nashville
Nashville, Tennessee, USA
ANYTHING BUT A WHISTLE STOP
NOT ONLY IS NASHVILLE'S UNION STATION HOTEL SET IN A CONVERTED 19TH-CENTURY NEO-ROMANESQUE RAILROAD STATION, IT ALSO FEATURES A DESTINATION LOBBY WITH A 65-FOOT BARREL-VAULTED CEILING AND TIFFANY-STYLE STAINED GLASS.
Despite closing its doors to commuters in the 1970s, the building still retains the grandeur of a pre-war city train station – case in point: the three spectacular crystal chandeliers hanging from the soaring lobby. A recent renovation brought the addition of eclectic décor inspired by the Music City’s vibrant history and culture: Each of the 125 guest rooms feature cowhide headboards, iron chandeliers, and candid musician photography.
Being at the heart of downtown Nashville, the music is so close you can almost hear the twang of guitar. Head to the spectacular Ryman Auditorium for a big show, or stay in the hotel lobby – there won’t be a train coming anytime soon, but local songwriters lay down tracks every other Thursday evening.
