Where Every Picture Tells a Story

Gracious southern living, sumptuous southern staples, and a stunning art collection - all packaged neatly in a victorian romanesque building replete with a fanciful turret.

Richard C. Kessler has revived the original 1888 building with lavish décor that includes Louis XV-style chairs, velvet chaises, and more than 400 pieces of European and American art carefully selected from his own collection. Seek out in particular the bronze sculpture Señorita con Parasol by South American artist Marianne Lerbs, positioned in the middle of the fountain next to the 700 Drayton restaurant; the large sculpture of Bacchus, god of wine, displayed, appropriately, in the Salzburg Wine Room; and the magical and mysterious Mexican-inspired works of Susan Contreras, whose paintings hang in the Onyx Gallery as well as Casimir’s Lounge.
