The Place

Connected to its surroundings, this hotel is woven into the fabric of its locale

Houston's hotel icon keeps the history alive behind its doors. Originally constructed as one of the country’s earliest skyscrapers to house the Union National Bank building in 1912, the icon preserved the bank vault door behind the front desk.

It has a name to live up to, but Hotel ICON delivers on every level, from the towering Doric columns in the double-height lobby and the old-school elevators complete with location dials to the Moulin Rouge-style décor – swaggering draperies, velvet chairs, brocade bedspreads, and antique claw-foot bathtubs. The restaurant Line & Lariat serves modern Texan cuisine, while the L&L bar mixes the idolatrous cocktails. Situated directly on the 7.5-mile light rail line, guests have quick access to the city's major financial, cultural, entertainment, and sports attractions.
