Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa
Point Clear, Alabama, USA
The Queen of the South
Built in 1847 by F.H. Chamberlain and surrounded by 200-year-old trees, stands the Grand Hotel. The moss-draped oaks on-site are full of history, having survived natural disasters, fires, civil war, and even a few rambunctious politicians and rock stars.
A regular retreat for celebrity figures seeking quiet, the Grand Hotel has played host to world-renowned celebrity chefs, best-selling authors, pop-musicians and beloved actors. The resort’s façade and interiors display a relaxed antebellum charm, tied together by the lobby’s distinguished fireplace. The laid-back resort bar, Bucky’s, is named after a boisterous and much loved figure in the Grand Hotel’s history whose cast iron statue greets guests. In a building so intertwined with its past, perhaps the most proud and unusual tradition at the Grand Hotel is the daily firing of the cannon, saluting and honoring the military.
