The Algonquin Resort St. Andrews by-the-Sea
St Andrews, Canada
Legendary Seaside Resort
Originally opened in st. Andrews as Canada’s first seaside resort town in 1889, the legendary hotel has welcomed virtually every Canadian prime minister since then and travellers have followed, escaping to the Algonquin resort for generations.
After a recent $50 million renovation that restored the hotel to its original splendor, it is more impressive than ever, with its Tudor façade, award-winning golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, roof garden, and “anyplace dining,” which allows guests to order drinks or meals in any of the hotel’s public spaces, including the prime fireside spot in the lobby. Add in the breathtaking ocean views and even a few ghost stories, and indeed, the Algonquin has it all.
